Which Assassinator Size to Buy

28-Inch Assassinator Tires

28x8-14 · 28x10-14

The 28-inch pair is the smallest Assassinator made and the easiest starting point for a machine that does not need a radical jump in tire height.

The 28x8-14 gives you the narrow digging profile the line is known for. The 28x10-14 adds nominal width for setups that want a broader tire. Both mount on 14-inch wheels, and clearance still needs confirming before installation.

For an ATV that needs serious mud traction without moving straight into a 32-inch build, this is where the line stays compact.

29.5 Assassinators

29.5x8-14 · 29.5x10-14

The 29.5 sits in oversized mud tire territory without reaching the height of the 32 and above, which is why more riders land here than anywhere else in the line.

The 29.5x8-14 keeps the casing narrow. The 29.5x10-14 adds two inches of nominal width, which suits machines or front and rear combinations that call for more footprint. Both use 14-inch wheels.

This is also a bigger jump from a common stock ATV tire than the 28 is, so clearance and drivetrain effects deserve more attention before ordering.

32 Assassinators

32x8-14

The 32x8-14 puts substantial diameter on an unusually narrow 8-inch profile, and that geometry is the whole point.

Rather than setting a broad footprint on the surface, the tire is shaped to cut into the hole and keep the tall lugs working below it.

On many machines 32 inches is a major increase over the factory tire. Treat suspension clearance, steering clearance and gearing as part of the installation rather than something to check after the tires land on the porch.

34x8-14 Assassinator

34x8-14

The 34x8-14 pushes the same narrow mud design to a larger diameter without asking for a wheel bigger than 14 inches.

The extra height lifts the axle and puts more tread down into deep ruts. It also increases leverage and rotating mass for the drivetrain to handle.

This is a build-oriented size. Confirm the maximum tire clearance on your machine and think about clutching or gear reduction before it goes on.

36x8-20 Assassinator

36x8-20

The 36x8-20 is the largest size in the current lineup and the only one that runs a 20-inch wheel instead of a 14.

At 36 inches tall and 8 inches nominally wide, it takes the Assassinator idea to its limit: maximum diameter, deep lugs and a profile built to cut.

A 36 is not a routine replacement for a stock ATV or UTV tire. Machines running this size usually need significant clearance work and a drivetrain plan behind it.

What Makes an Assassinator Different

Lugs up to 3 inches deep

Deep mud leaves almost nothing firm for a normal tread to push against. Assassinator answers that with tread blocks tall enough to keep reaching as the tire sinks. Their paddle shape pushes against soft material rather than relying on a shallow contact patch, which matters in a hole where the tire has to move through several inches of soup before it finds anything worth pulling on.

A narrow casing, on purpose

A wide tire spreads the machine over more ground and tends to stay near the surface. Assassinator does the opposite. Concentrating the load over a smaller footprint helps the tire cut downward, so the lugs reach denser material underneath. That is why a 34x8-14 stands 34 inches tall on a casing only 8 inches wide.

Open tread that empties itself

A mud tire loses most of its advantage the moment the gaps between its lugs pack solid. Wide spacing gives that material somewhere to go as the casing flexes and turns, which keeps exposing the leading edges instead of turning the tread into a smooth cylinder of clay. Sticky, heavy mud is where the difference shows up fastest.

6-ply rated carcass

Mud hides what you are driving over. A hole that looks soft can have roots, stumps or hard edges under the surface. The 6-ply rating describes the carcass strength class rather than counting six literal fabric layers. No pneumatic tire is puncture proof, so pressure, wheel condition and a look over the tires after a hard day still matter.

None of it is styling

Every choice on this tire costs it something on hard ground. Tall lugs mean less continuous rubber on the road. Wide gaps mean more noise. The narrow casing gives up flotation on sand. Those are not oversights, they are the price of a tire that keeps moving when the terrain turns to soup, and it is the trade Assassinator asks you to make.

Thin, watery holes let the tall lugs paddle through material that gives a shallow tread nothing to work with. This is the one condition Assassinator was designed around, and every compromise elsewhere on the tire was made to serve it.

Where self-cleaning earns its keep

Heavy clay is what packs a tightly spaced tread into a slick drum. The wide gaps here give it room to leave the tire as the casing rotates. The tread does not stay clean so much as it keeps shedding, which is what keeps fresh lug edges arriving at the ground.

Deep ruts

Suits the narrow casing

A rut rewards a tire that digs rather than one that floats. The narrow profile drops into the cut and keeps the lugs working below the surface. Ruts are also where hidden roots and edges live, which is the argument for the 6-ply carcass.

Assassinator is not just a row of isolated paddles. SuperATV built support near the centerline to cut down the vibration and disconnected feel that extremely open patterns produce on firm ground. It makes the ride to the next hole reasonable. It is not an all-terrain rating.

Snow

Loose snow yes, ice no

Tall lugs bite through loose snow the way they bite through mud, and owners running these in winter say so. Packed snow and ice are a different problem, solved by a cold-weather compound and dense siping that an extreme mud tread does not have.

Pavement and hardpack

Usable, but wasted

Three-inch lugs and large tread gaps put far less continuous rubber on a hard surface than an all-terrain tread does. A machine that spends most of its life on packed trails, gravel or asphalt will be better served by something less extreme, and will make almost no use of what you paid for here.

Making the Size Fit the Machine

Start with the wheel, not the tire

The last number in the size is not optional. A 14-inch tire needs a 14-inch wheel, and the 36x8-20 needs a 20. Everything else in the decision comes after that number matches what is already bolted to the machine.

Check clearance compressed and at full lock

A tire that clears the body with the machine sitting level and the wheels straight can still hit suspension components or plastics during a hard turn or a compression event. Cycle the suspension and turn the steering through its whole range before you decide a size fits.

Universal fit is not a real category

Assassinators go on many ATVs and UTVs, but no off-road tire fits everything. The wheel has to match and the machine has to have room for the diameter and the width. Fitment is a property of your specific machine and its current setup, not of the tire.

A lift does not guarantee clearance

Wheel offset, suspension geometry and full-lock steering position can still decide the answer after a lift is installed. As diameter climbs, offset suspension components or a portal gear lift may be what actually makes the size work.

Choosing between an 8 and a 10-inch width

The 8-inch casing is the one doing the digging. It concentrates the machine over less ground and cuts down toward something firm. The 10-inch spreads that weight further, which suits riders who want more footprint or run a wider tire on the rear only. Assassinator publishes both widths at 28 and 29.5 inches, so you can pick without changing tire height.

What Bigger Assassinators Do to the Drivetrain

A bigger tire changes your gearing

Increasing diameter effectively raises the final drive ratio. Acceleration and low-speed torque fall away as the tire grows, and the difference is far more noticeable moving to a 32, 34 or 36 than taking one step above the factory size.

Rotating mass loads the belt

Assassinators carry a lot of rubber. That extra rotating mass has to be accelerated by the same clutch and belt that were tuned around the stock tire. Deep mud makes it worse, because it produces high load at low speed, which is exactly the condition that exposes a poor clutch setup.

Clutching or gear reduction, not both by default

Serious mud builds usually compensate one of two ways. Clutch tuning matches the machine to the new tire. Gear reduction changes the ratio outright. Portal gear lifts do reduction and clearance at the same time, which is why they show up on so many large-tire builds.

Do not just buy the largest one that fits

The biggest Assassinator your machine can physically clear is not automatically the right one. Plan the supporting work before you buy, because discovering the limitation in the first deep hole is the expensive version of this lesson.

These effects belong to oversized tires in general rather than to any fault in the Assassinator. The further a build departs from the factory dimensions, the more the tires, suspension and drivetrain have to be treated as one system instead of three separate purchases.

SuperATV has built aftermarket parts for ATVs and UTVs since 2004. The catalog runs well past tires: suspension, portal gear lifts, axles, winches and the rest of the hardware that turns a stock machine into something that can survive a mud park.

Assassinator sits at the extreme mud end of that range, and SuperATV separates it from its own mixed-terrain designs rather than selling it as a do-everything tire. The line has also carried builds well past the current retail sizes. A 40-inch Assassinator RZR came out of the SuperATV shop in 2018, which is roughly when the tire became shorthand for a serious mud machine.

Products get tested on the company's own machines rather than treated as generic automotive parts, and that is the origin of the design decisions on this page: the lug height, the narrow casing and the open spacing all came out of riding, not styling.

Where the name fits

Assassinator is a mud tire first and everything else second. That is the strongest reason to buy it and the reason not to put it on every machine. If your tire decision starts at the mud hole and works backward, this is the shortlist. If it starts at the trailhead, it is not.

Warranty

SuperATV tires carry a 90-day warranty against manufacturing defects for the original purchaser, subject to the full warranty terms.

Damage from use is a separate matter. Mud hides sharp objects that no warranty can cover, so inspecting the tires after a hard ride belongs in normal maintenance rather than in a claim.
